The RTO must also ensure that all trainers and assessors undertake annual professional development in the fields of:
- knowledge and practice of Industry currency, and
- maintaining current skills and knowledge in training and assessment, including engaging and supporting VET students (VET currency)
Professional development means activities that develop and/or maintain an individual’s skills, knowledge, expertise and other characteristics as a trainer or assessor. This includes both formal and informal activities that encompass vocational competencies, currency of industry skills and knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment, including competency based training and assessment. Annually you are required to complete a minimum of 10 hours mandatory training and an additional 10 hours of supplementary training in each category of Industry PD and VET PD.
