Part of a trainers TAE requirements is that you keep up to date with your Industry skills (what you teach) and Training & Assessment Skills. This is called continuing professional development or CPD.
We will refer to this PD as:
- Industry Skills (previously called Industry PD)
- Training & Assessment Skills (previously called VET PD)
It is the individual trainer and assessor who is responsible for maintaining and meeting requirements.
Industry Skills
Currency in industry skills will depend on your industry area. Trainers and assessors must show how they have maintained, upgraded or developed new skills relevant to the current industry need. Ideally regular exposure to industry workplaces and having the ability to participate in workplace tasks. You many have worked in this field a couple of years ago, the PD is to show you are still current.
Training & Assessment Skills
All trainers and assessors must undertake professional development in fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment, including competency-based training and assessment practices.
